Portsmouth Guildhall

To install an assistive listening system to the main (4000 seat) auditorium.

The main auditorium at Portsmouth Guildhall had been fitted with an induction loop system to benefit hearing aid users but this had proved to be inadequate. It was decided that an alternative type of hearing system should be installed which would provide a means for audience members with hearing loss to hear performances clearly. A Sennheiser Infrared System with 3 radiators positioned around the hall was installed and linked to the show relay output from the sound desk. Multiple rechargeable infrared receiver units were supplied to be handed out as requested.

The result was an assistive listening system system which benefited both hearing aid users and those with mild hearing loss who didn’t use hearing aids.
