Forest Park School, Southampton

Brief

To design, supply, install & commission ‘Soundfield’ systems for each classroom and communal hall.

Install

Newtech was approached to install Soundfield systems within all teaching rooms at Forest Park School in Totton, Southampton. Soundfield systems allow the teachers voice to be amplified to the same volume at all points throughout the classroom, therefore allowing pupils to hear the teacher clearly whether they are sat at the front of the classroom or at the back. The key to designing Soundfield systems is the correct positioning of the speakers which, in the case of Forest park school, were ceiling speakers flush mounted into the suspended ceilings. The speakers are connected to a wall mounted amplifier which then links (wirelessly via wall mounted sensors) to a discrete microphone worn by the teacher.

Each of the 15 systems installed in Forest park school were designed to be 100% compatible with each other therefore allowing a teacher to use one microphone in any teaching room. In addition, the microphones linked to the amplifiers via infrared signals, which limited the microphone to only be picked up by the Soundfield system in whichever room they were current in. Crosstalk / interference between systems was therefore completely eliminated.

The guys were extremely helpful as ever
